Experienced Ghana defender John Pantsil is in line for a MASSIVE return to the Black Stars ahead of the opening match of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The 33-year-old has been a standout performer in the South African Premier Soccer League where he plays for Maritzburg United.

The former Fulham man is getting better with age after playing 90 minutes in 27 league games this season, attracting a single yellow card in the process.

Ghana’s leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com, understands Black Stars coach Avram Grant is tossing with the idea of recalling him into the team ahead of the starts of the Cup of Nations qualifiers after being impressed with his work ethics.

The marauding left-back brings on board many attributes after excelling as a centre-back this term in arguably the biggest African league.

Pantsil has emerged as one of the most consistent Ghanaian players abroad this term and now attracts interest from stellar clubs in South Africa and Europe following a fabulous season at Maritzburg United.

Touted as one of the most accomplished performers for the Black Stars in the last ten years, the Ghanaian international will be great returnee to the team as he wield so much experience and positive influence on the young players.

Pantsil shot into prominence after he helped the country’s Under-20 team to clinch silver at the 2001 African Youth Championship in Argentina.

The experienced versatile player has played in five African Cup of Nations finals and only two caps away from equaling Richard Kingson’s 90 appearances for the Black Stars.

He has been named among the best foreign-based players in the PSL after helping the Team of Choice to place a historic eight on the league table.

The Black Stars will host Mauritius on June 14 before games against Rwanda and Mozambique.
