Ghana are overwhelming favourites going into their second Group H 2017 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda.

The star-studded Black Stars team are expected to maintain their impressive start to their campaign when they travel to Kigali to face Amavubi.

Ghana however has an injury concern with influential captain Asamoah Gyan struggling with an ankle injury in the past days.

Avram Grant's side is however considered still strong enough to get the desired result against Rwanda even in the absence of Asamoah Gyan.

With the likes of Andre Ayew firing on all cylinders in the Premier League with Swansea and with players like Christian Atsu and Mubarak Wakaso in good form - at least in the international front - the Black Stars is well armed with more than enough fire power to overcome Amavubi.

A win in Kigali will however not come cheap as Rwanda themselves are on a high following their opening day win in Mozambique.

John McKinstry's team boast a solid defensive record having kept a clean sheet in all of their past four matches.

The Amavubi Stars have been boosted by their foreign-based quartet striker Quentin Rushenguziminega who plays for Lausanne Sports in Switzerland, centre back Emery Bayisenge who plays for Lask Linz in Austria, Salomon Nirisarike, a centre back, of Sint Trond, Belgium and left back Abouba Sibomana (Gor Mahia, Kenya).

The Irish trainer believes this impressive defensive system provides the team a solid base for his team to go on to stun the Black Stars before what will surely be a sellout crowd.

But his main headache is the state of the Amahoro Stadium pitch.

“The pitch is in a bad state. It is the worst state since I came here” When I first came to Kigali, more than five months ago, the pitch was really good. It was in a very good condition when I first came,” he lamented to Times Sport.
