Ghana coach Avram Grant opted not to hand debut start to any of the three debutantes in his squad for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday.

The former Chelsea manager named three debutantes in his 23-man squad that flown to the Southern African country for the crucial clash.

Kazakhstan-based Patrick Twumasi was handed his debut call-up after impressing for Astana in the Uefa Champions League and the Kazakhstan domestic leagues.

Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey was named alongside home-based defender Kadri Mohammed who plays for Ghanaian champions AshantiGold SC in the squad.

But Grant favoured a move to stick to his house names with Asamoah Gyan missing the tie with injury.

Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew picked in an attacking trident partnership with Anderlecht's Frank Acheampong and skipper Andre Ayew.

Afriyie Acquah and Wakaso Mubarak took charge of central midfielder while Jonathan Mensah was preferred for the central defensive partnership with Sivasspor defender John Boye.

This means the trio must bid their time to get game time with the Black Stars.
