Rwanda coach Brian McKinstry says they have nothing to lose when they play against Ghana in next month's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations insisting a defeat to the Black Stars won't be a disaster for his side.

Rwanda will host the Black Stars in Kigali on 5 September and the Black Stars have been tipped as the favourites for the match thanks to their current standing in the world.

Despite this the Wasps say they will be fighting for the three points against the Black Stars but a defeat to the Ghanaians won't be big news.

McKinstry said: “We look at doing good preparations as we go into the game against Ghana where we aim at getting a good result. Our mission will be to go into the game and try to get three points.

“If we don’t get the three points, it won’t be a disaster. We know what we want from this qualifying campaign and we have our points target that we believe firmly will take us to the Africa Cup of Nations and should we come out of this game with nothing, we will still be in a strong position to qualify.”

As part of preparations, Rwanda will face Ethiopia’s Walia Ibex in a FIFA international friendly match which will be played in Kigali on Friday 28 August, a week before Rwanda’s AFCON 2017 qualifying match with Ghana.

After the Ethiopia friendly, Rwanda will host the Black Stars of Ghana in Kigali while Ethiopia play away to Seychelles in the second round matches of the AFCON 2017 qualifiers.

The Black Stars too will play Congo in an international friendly before taking on Rwanda in their second group H game in Kigali.

The West African giants overpowered Mauritius 7-1 in their opening qualifier in Accra two months ago and at the same time ; Rwanda registered a 1-0 away win against Mozambique in Maputo.

Against Ghana, Rwanda will be seeking to register a good result against Ghana to be able to remain on course of qualifying for 2017 Africa Nations Cup finals to be held in Gabon.
