Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah will have to wait a little longer to stage his return to the Black Stars after being ruled out of the country's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on September 6 due his problematic knee injury, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

Asamoah, 26, has not played for the Black Stars close to a year since he suffered a serious career threatening injury in November last year.

The former Udinese man is expected to return to action next month, which effectively rules him out of the clash against the Amavubi early next month.

With his estimated return date not specified, Asamoah will again watch in agony as the Black Stars travel to Kigali to face Johnny McKinstry’s men at the Amahoro stadium.

Black Stars coach Avram Grant will again have to do without his talisman ahead of the trip to East African country as he has equally good replacement ahead of the game.

The versatile Juventus man is desperate to return to the pitch as complication has delayed his recovery process, with the heightened situation becoming a source of worry to many Ghanaians.

The talented midfielder missed the opening 7-1 mauling of Mauritius in Accra two months ago and could be set for further weeks on the sidelines as the knee injury continues to threaten his rather fine career.

He missed the country’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations silver-medal feat in Equatorial Guinea.
