2017 FIFA U17 WC: Starlets defender Rashid Alhassan gutted by quarter final defeat to Mali

Black Starlets left back Rashid Alhassan was emotionally down and left gutted after Ghana's defeat to Mali in the FIFA U17 World Cup currently ongoing in India.

Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of their West African counterparts in a game that was keenly contested on Saturday morning.

The defeat was the third in six months in the hands of the Malians after they had pipped the Starlets to win the 2017 U17 AFCON in Gabon and followed it up with a 2-1 win in a friendly in the UAE.

Rashid, 16, took to twitter to express his disappointment and thanksled Ghanaians for their support and to forgive the team for not making it to the semi final.

"Gutted! We failed to proceed to the next stage. Though the journey has ended we want to thank Ghanaians for the immense support. Home soon," he tweeted.

The Aduana Stars budding was one of the brightest spots for Ghana at the tournament and is rumoured that he's been poached by a top European club with his exploits at the competition.
