Comoros versus Ghana in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

GHANAsoccernet.com runs the rule over the Black Stars's performance in their opening 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Moroni on Friday afternoon.

The Black Stars strikeforce failed to fire a shot on target until Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful waved a magic by stepping away from two defenders and firing a canon at Salim Ben Boina's goal.

Comoros forced the Black Stars to play at the dictatorship whims while Razak Braimah made a string of desperate saves to keep Ghana in the game.

Lorient striker Majeed Waris missed a sitter on the 13th minute mark by skying a glaring chance in front of goal.

Here's GHANAsoccernet.com's full rating the Black Stars commenced their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a pulsating encounter.

Razak Braimah (Goalkeeper) 5.5

Having come under some level of criticism for failing to convince fans of his abilities, the Cordoba goalkeeper drew earlier scrutiny when he failed to deal with Youssouf Ahamadi's furious drive from 25 yards. John Boye's timely interventions helped eased the pressure off him.

Harrison Afful (Right-back) 6.5

The Columbus Crew defender bombed into space in the 44th minute and fired Ghana's first shot on target which nearly resulted in the opening goal of the game. He covered his area well but provided an extra bite in attack anytime he surged forward.

Baba Rahman (Left-back) 5.5

With Comoros's inexperience in attack, they failed to provide any real threats for the Chelsea defender but in his time he surged forward to combine with Swansea City's Andre Ayew but it failed to produce a goal.

John Boye (Center-back) 7

With a stubbornly performing Comoros attack causing troubles for Ghana, the Sivasspor defender showed his no nonsense character by commanding stamping forward to clear all dangers from the host. He steered a powerful header which was cleared off the line.

Jonathan Mensah (Center-back) 6

Partnered well with John Boye in central defence to contain the Comoros attack. He slowly stabilized the Ghana backline with his experience. Had a decent afternoon against an inexperience attack lead by French lower-tier players.

Mubarak Wakaso (Midfielder) 5

The Las Palmas winger failed to impose himself in the midfield as he was overshadowed in the game. His incisive and defensive splitting passes were absent in the game. Replaced by Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu who hammered a powerful drive from 20 yards.

Afriyie Acquah (Midfielder) 5.5

Was part of the Ghana midfield who failed to command middle. He had a normal game on the afternoon. Understandably he lacked the support of a midfield partner which impacted in the Ghana game.

Solomon Asante (Winger) 5.5

The TP Mazembe wing-wizard had little impact on the game. His pace and trickery failed to do the magic and unlocked the knots from the wings. Replaced by David Accam midway through the second-half.

Andre Ayew (Winger) 6.5

Had a quiet game as leader of the team with Asamoah Gyan absent. The Swansea City star failed to create any clear cut chances for Waris and his junior brother Jordan Ayew who played in attack. Had credit for dropping deep to defending whenever Comoros piled pressure on the Ghana side.

Majeed Waris (Forward) 5

The Lorient striker missed Ghana's first chance of the game, firing a close range wide. Not a too convincing performance from the 23-year-old as he was replaced by Asamoah Gyan late in the game.

Jordan Ayew (Forward) 5.5

The Aston Villa forward struggled to make the kind of impact expected of him. Barely fired a goal on target. He fired blank once again as the Black Stars scrolled to a barren draw.
