Interim Black Queens coach Marcy Quarcoo Tagoe is optimistic of leading the team to clinch the maiden WAFU Zone B Women's Nations Cup.

The Queens edged out Nigeria 5-4 on penalties to reach the final of the inaugural WAFU Zone B Women's Nations Cup.

They were tied 1-1 after regulations with all goals scored in the first half.

Alice Ogebe opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute but ten minutes later Queens drew level through Faustina Ampah.

During the shootouts, goalkeeper Patricia Mantey saved two spot-kicks and Alice Kusi scored the winning goal.

The team will square off against hosts Ivory Coast in the final, having lost to the same opposition 1-0 in the opening fixture of the competition.

However, Tagoe believes her charges have what it takes to re-write the script in their favour on Sunday.

Cote D’Ivoire beat Ghana 1-0 in the opening game of the WAFU Championship and the Black Queens will look to avenge that in the final.

“Believe you me, we have studied Ivory Coast. We know how physical they are and how well they run.

"Samba football is from Ghana and we are not going sit down the second time for them to beat us.”

Ghana will host the CAF African Women's Cup of Nations in November 2018.
