2018 World Cup: Ghana awaits fate as FIFA yet to set date for draw for group phase of qualifiers

Ghana's Black Stars will have to wait to find out the draw date for the group phase of the 2018 World Cup qualifier as FIFA is yet to set a date for the draw.

The Black Stars are among the 20 sides in Africa to have sealed their places in the group phase of the qualifiers after Tuesday's matches.

Africa’s top sides all booked places in next year's decisive World Cup qualifying group phase after coming through their knock-out ties on Tuesday.

African champions Ivory Coast, Algeria, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa and Morocco are all through to the 20-nation group stage, that starts next October.

Egypt, Cape Verde, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Uganda, Gabon, Burkina Faso and Libya complete the line-up.

The Ghana FA is desperate to find out the date to it can start preparations in earnest to ensure smooth preparations for the qualifiers.

The 20 counties will be divided into five groups of four with the group winners qualifying for the 2018 tournament finals in Russia.
