Ghana defender Nuru Sulley says he is in the best form and excited to make the country proud if he makes coach Kwesi Appiah’s final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The towering Hearts centre-back was one of the stand-out performers at this year’s African Nations Championship in South Africa.

With two months left for the start of the global showpiece, many players are fighting hard to catch the eye of Kwesi Appiah ahead of the mundial.

The 21-year-old says he is still holding onto the dream of playing for the Africans in Brazil.

“I believe in my abilities and if called upon by the national team technical crew I am equal to the task and as usual will give in my best towards making the country proud,” he said.

“Anyway, that lies in the hands of God if I will be there or not.

At the moment I am concentrating on Hearts and hoping for the best to happen.”

“Every player has equal chances of representing the country but I must tell you that I am not intimated by any names.”

Sulley faces a fierce competition in the race for the final squad with John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, Jerry Akaminko and Rashid Sumaila most likely to make the squad.
