Abdul Majeed Waris celebrates his goal in France on Sunday

Lorient forward Majeed Waris insist he is not eyeing the goal king in France despite hitting top form in the French Ligue 1.

Waris, 23, scored one of Lorient’s three goals in their win over Bordeaux blast night to take his tally to three in six matches.

The Black Stars striker hinted before the start of the season that he is not targeting the goal king in France and has reiterated that he is still not eyeing the award.

Waris has hit top form in the French Ligue 1 after have a slow start to the season sustaining a wrist injury in their first game against Bastia.

In an interview with GHANAsoccernet.com Majeed Waris disclosed “I am not eyeing the goal king. That has always not been my target. My only target is to help the team to get to a very good position on the league.”

“I have played here before but not in a complete season. Now I have had the opportunity to play in a full season so I only want to play and help the team to a better position,” he added.

Waris has been handed an invitation for the Black Stars friendly game against Canada in Washington next week.
