Awal Mohammed points BYF Academy clash as Kotoko's best game of the season

Asante Kotoko defender Awal Mohammed has lauded Division One League side Bekwai Youth Football Academy following an impressive display in the MTN FA insisting his side played their best game so far this season.

Asante Kotoko have gone under immense pressure after going win-less in five consecutive league matches before beating the Bekwai-based side through the lottery of penalty kicks to move to the round of 32 in the competition.

And Awal Mohammed, who played for the Black Stars at the 2015 AFCON, believes Kotoko played their best game so far in the season.

"I must commend the team (BYF Academy) for their impressive show. They really gave us a good game. This is the best game for Kotoko for the entire season," Awal told Ghanasoccernet.com

"We hope to build on this win to transform our game in the Premiership," he added.

The Academy Boys held the Porcupine Warriors in the first half before unleashing venom on the visitors who took an early second half lead through Kwame Boateng.

Referee Amofah Sarkodie disallowed what appeared an excellent goal from the lowly-fancied side but the spirited side picked up and scored in additional time to restore parity.

Kotoko will play Aduana Stars in the league on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in an ambitious battle for the league title.
