Ghana coach Avram Grant announced a 23-man squad on Thursday to face Egypt's Pharaohs in a crunch 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on November 13.
The former West Ham United and Chelsea hands debut call ups to Barnsley influential defender Andy Kyere Yiadom as well as Portugal-based Alhassan Wakaso.
With captain Asamoah Gyan ruled out with injury and Juventus advising against the inclusion of midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah the Israeli gaffer should have included these five players in his squad for the all-important clash.
1. Raphael Dwamena - Austria Lustenau (FORWARD)
A serial goal merchant in the Austrian Liga 1. Has notched 13 goals in all competitions and leads the goal king race in the league. The former Sogakope Red Bull starlet is cast in the mould of Didier Drogba and possess brilliant qualities likened to Everton and Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku. With Gyan out of the game, the 21-year-old remains the next best alternative for the game. The opportunity cost of picking out-of-form Lorient forward Majeed Waris and Ebenezer Assifuah could be huge. He's currently Ghana's leading scorer in Europe. Grant shouldn't have overlooked him.
2. Ema Boateng - LA Galaxy (ATTACKER)
The former Right to Dream Academy graduate scored a sensational goal that dominated the internet for hours unend a fortnight ago. His sheer bravado and swashbuckling ability to take on defenders and reduce them to mere stocks has earned him raving reviews in the MLS. He is a regular at Galaxy and has played along Steven Gerard and other top stars. He Ghana's equivalent of Mohamed Salah. Boateng is blessed with electrifying pace and has the gas and talent to meander through deference with ease.
3. Emmanuel Osei Banahene - Ismaily (FORWARD)
It is still surprising how Avram Grant failed to include any of the Egypt-based players in his squad. Samuel Afum, John Antwi and Nana Poku are all players who have hit top form in the Egyptian Premier League but could not draw attention of Avram Grant. Banahene is a goal talisman for the Egyptian Brazilian and has an in-dept knowledge of the opposition. Banahene qualifies to make the grades.
4. Godsway Donyoh - Nordajaelland (FORWARD)
The former Manchester City youngster is playing his best football in the Danish Superliga. In his latest crusading run of form, the 22-year-old has bagged four goals in his last five games and is in some delightful form. Donyoh has the armoury and lethal prowess required to douse the Egyptian defence before their own home fans. It's about time Grant gets the balls and hand call up to the youngster.
5. Inusah Musah - Hearts of Oak (DEFENDER)
The Hearts of Oak defender burst onto the scenes in the second-half of last season in the Ghana Premier League, anchoring the Phobians defence and sweeping many Man of the Match awards. Inusah trained with the Black Stars squad during preparations to face Uganda in the Group opener. Grant and his technical team put the center back on their watch-list but failed to include him for the Egypt trip. Inusah and towering and strong in what he does. With age catching up with John Boye and Jonathan Mensah failing to realize his potential, it would have been the right time to introduce the powerful defender.
