A competent coach is what we want for Black Stars – Frank Nelson

Mr Frank Nelson, executive member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has assured that the senior national football team the Black stars would get a substantive coach by the next official game in June.

Speaking to the press on Friday, Mr Nelson said plans are far advanced for the FA to get a good and competent coach for the Stars, stressing that, “a competent coach is what we want irrespective of his nationality.”

“We can’t choose a coach just because he is Ghanaian. We want someone who can bring us good results. If a Ghanaian can do that we won’t hesitate but I don’t think it should be the basis for choosing a coach”, he said.

He said the FA did not want a situation where critics will come at them if a coach is not performing as expected and so they are working carefully to select a competent and deserving coach.

“If the coach is not efficient and there are no results, Ghanaians will blame the FA. Let us leave it to the FA, who have the power and know-how to pick a good coach for the senior national team”, he said.
