Ghanaian striker Abdul Basit scored a late consolation goal for Free State Stars when they suffered a 3-2 home defeat to visiting Mpumalanga Black Aces in the South African Premier Soccer League on Saturday.

The former New Edubiase United strike was brought on with just 25 minutes of normal time left for play and he made his mark by scoring in the 87th minute. But his goal was not enough as his side suffered a home loss.

The home side had scored first but the visitors staged a strong performance to take full control of the game, putting themselves 3-1 ahead.

But the 23-year-old Ghanaian scored with 3 minutes to reduce the deficit for his side but they were unable to score again before the game petered out.

The strike has taken his season's tally to 5 goals in 17 games.

While he was having a feel of the action, Ghana international goalkeeper Daniel Agyei was on the Free State Stars bench.
