Abedi Pele wants acceptable Ghana squad for 2012 AFCON

Posted On Wednesday, 14th December 2011

Ex Ghana captain Abedi Pele says Ghana’s final 23-man squad for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations to be released on Thursday should be acceptable to all.

There have been heightened expectations ahead of the squad announcement at a Press Conference with many making various suggestions over who should make the squad.

However the Ghana legend who has two of his sons in contention says the Black Stars squad to be released by Coach Goran Stevanovic should be an acceptable one without any preferential treatment.

“I expect him (Stevanovic) to name a good squad that all Ghanaians hope for so we have a good team capable of winning the African Cup,” he told Takoradi-based Melody FM.

“If my sons don’t deserve to be in the team then that should not be a problem but if they do then that os fine.”

The Black Stars are expected to commence camping ahead of the finals on January 7 in South Africa.

    well said maestro

  2. quophai says:

Maestro u r ryt. The coach shd not kow tow to pressure and name a squad that meets the expectations of Ghanaians. Favouratism, cronyism and all underhand dealings shd be avoided. If he does that, Ghanaians will rally behind the team and ensure that the cup is won. Anything different and all of us will have his “dis ting” for ngwor ngwor.

  3. atiao says:

masa unless it is not about performance and current form of our players but if it is then DEDE AYEW who for now is undoubtedly GHANA,s best player in europe should be there by all means. Also Jordan Ayew who plays at a higher level (the UEFA champions league ) which none of our current strikers play in should also be there without any question.SO in all the two sons of ABEDI must be in our team for the AFCON if our coach is to do a fair selection.

  4. mukmin says:

If the coach is fair and unbiased both Jordan and Dede should be on the team they are both in the top 5 ghanaian players based on current form in my opinion

  5. kwabas says:

THE CAPTION IS VERY MISLEADING.BAD JOURNALISM BY GSN.
