Second tier side Nania FC stunned Ghana league champions Berekum Chelsea to win the Ghana Super Cup on penalties on Sunday.

The season's curtain-raiser was pushed to spot-kicks after both sides tied 1-1 in regulation time.

Ebenezer Osei gave Nania the lead on 43 minutes when he bent the ball expertly to beat Chelsea goalkeeper Ernest Sowah.

Chelsea captain Mohammed Basit got the leveller in the 80th minute after coming back strongly in the second half.

The game headed straight for penalty shoot-outs and Cheslea missed three of the five spot-kicks while Nania put away four.

The match was a repeat of the MTN FA Cup played in June where Abedi Pele's side also won on penalties at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Nania FC went on to win the Cup by beating Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in July.
