Asante kotoko defender Abeiku Ainoonson has backed his sides pursuit of out of contract prodigy Kennedy Ashia.
Ashia, 20 announced last week that he will be leaving Liberty professionals after three seasons with the scientific soccer lads and also confirmed that he has opened talks with Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko over a possible move
But reports from the local media suggest, Kotoko are the frontrunners to land the signature of the former Ghana U-20 star
Asante kotoko are in the market for competent players to beef up their team for the upcoming season after a drab season, Trophy less.
And Ainoonson, who has been an integral member of the Porcupines since joining from New Edubiase in 2013, says Ashia would be welcome addition to the club as they look to reclaim league and MTN FA cup next term
"Ashia is my roommate at local Black stars and we get on well when we are together," he told GHANASoccernet.com in an exclusive interview
"He's a player that every club in the country wants to have. He's very good player though young, if he comes he will be well received" Ainoonson added.
Ashia scored ten goals last season for Liberty professionals.
