Ghana winger Quincy Owusu-Abeyie opened the scoring for Malaga in their 1-1 draw with ten-man Almeria away in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday afternoon.

Abeyie joined La Plantilla this summer and has now raked in two goals for the side currently placed 10th in the standing.

Almeria were reduced to ten men on 40th when Pereira Eliseu was sent off for violent conduct after he reacted to a heavy challenge by Juanma Ortiz.

But the visitors made light of their numerical disadvantage to take the lead through Quincy Owusu-Abeyie four minutes after the interval.

Antonio Apono's pass found Owusu-Abeyie and the former Portsmouth man slotted the ball beyond Diego Alves into the bottom right-hand corner.

Ortiz blazed wildly over the crossbar as Almeria sought an equaliser and they looked set to do so when Patrick Mtiliga fouled Piatti, but Martinez guessed the right way to tip Uche's 63rd minute spot-kick round the post.

Martinez also kept out a fine effort from Piatti but Almeria's pressure eventually told as Uche tapped home from Hernan Bernardello's ball across the area.
