AC Milan legend worried about Chinese takeover

Former AC Milan man Alessandro Costacurta has revealed his worries over the recent Chinese takeover of the Serie A club.

The 50-year-old spent 21 years at the Rossoneri, playing in the heart of defence between 1986 and 2007 and guiding the side to seven Scudetti and five Champions League titles, but the recent sale of the club by Silvio Berlusconi slightly unnerves him.

“I was part of Milan for most of the Berlusconi era, it’s a bit sad because it ended an unforgettable chapter, and I am also a bit frightened by this change,” Costacurta told Milan TV.

“The change in ownership will clarify certain situations and responsibilities.”

Berlusconi was at the top of Diavolo football for 30 years, but sold the club to a Chinese consortium during the summer for over €700 million.

The next phase of the sale is set to be completed next week, with €85m of the total fee being transferred on September 9.
