AC Milan midfielder nearing MLS switch

AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino’s Serie A career seems to be drawing to a close as a move to Major League Soccer beckons.

The forgotten combatant midfielder has found himself far down the Rossoneri pecking order and has only appeared in a single Serie A match this season.

According to Sky Sport Italia, DC United may be ready to offer Nocerino a way out, weeks before the MLS season is set to kick off.

Fellow MLS side Orlando City SC had shown interest in the 30-year-old but was ordered by the league to cease their advances as the Black-and-Red had previously placed a discovery claim on the Italian.

According to The Washington Post, DC United may in fact trade Nocerino’s discovery rights to Orlando City so that the Lions can begin negotiations.

Regardless of which American team ultimately wins the race to sign the former Palermo man, it appears that his Serie A nightmare is finally drawing to a close.

The MLS transfer window remains open amidst preseason preparations.
