ACL 2017 MD1 - Group A: Al Taawoun v Lokomotiv preview

Published on: 19 February 2017

Buraidah: Al Taawoun of Saudi Arabia will make their AFC Champions League debut when they welcome Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv to King Abdullah Stadium in Group A on Monday.

Constantin Galca’s team come into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over fellow AFC Champions League hopefuls Al Fateh on Thursday in a fixture that saw recent French recruit Alassane N’Diaye open his account for the Saudi side.

Lokomotiv enjoyed a historic 2016, winning their first Uzbek League title while also claiming the Uzbek Cup and reaching the last eight of the AFC Champions League. But a host of recent departures, including the inspirational Server Djeparov, means the Tashkent side will have a difficult job emulating last year’s impressive feats.
