ACL 2017 MD1 - Group E: Brisbane Roar 0-0 Muangthong United

Published on: 21 February 2017

Brisbane: Australia’s Brisbane Roar and Muangthong United of Thailand shared the honours after a 0-0 draw in their 2017 AFC Champions League Group E opener at Brisbane Stadium on Tuesday.

Nicholas D’Agostino did see an effort hit the post in the first half for the hosts but both goalkeepers, Kawin Thamsatchanan and Jamie Young, were largely untroubled throughout as composure in the final third let down both sides, with Muangthong visitors shading the match.

Brisbane’s winless run at home in the AFC Champions League stretches to seven games, while Muangthong pick up just their second-ever continental point. In Group E’s other tie Kashima Antlers defeated Ulsan Hyundai 2-0 to take an early lead at the top of the standings.
