ACL 2017 MD4 - Group D: Al Hilal 1-0 Al Wahda

Published on: 10 April 2017

Riyadh: Al Hilal moved to the top of the Group D standings on Monday evening as a Carlos Eduardo penalty ensured Ramon Diaz’s side saw off Al Wahda from the United Arab Emirates.

Eduardo scored from the spot in the 24th minute after Leo Bonatini was brought down by Al Wahda goalkeeper Rashed Ali, but the club from the UAE had the chance to level the scores with a penalty of their own two minutes before the break, only for Sebastian Tagliabue to see his attempt saved by Abdullah Al Mayoof.

Al Hilal’s win moves the Saudi Arabia league leaders on to eight points from four games, one more than Al Rayyan of Qatar and three ahead of Persepolis from Iran with two games remaining.
