Shanghai: Hulk scored a penalty and set up the winner as Shanghai SIPG came back from a goal behind to defeat fellow Chinese Super League side Jiangsu FC 2-1 in the first leg of their 2017 AFC Champions League meeting at Shanghai Stadium on Wednesday.

Roger Martinez gave Jiangsu the lead in the ninth minute before Hulk levelled the scores from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute and Odil Ahmedov claimed the winner with the final touch of the first half.

Martinez put Choi Yong-soo’s side in front after a mistake by SIPG midfielder Cai Huikang allowed the Colombian in on goal and he made no mistake with his finish as Jiangsu controlled the opening exchanges.

But Hulk picked himself up off the turf after being hauled down by Li Ang to level from the spot before turning provider late in the half when his cross from the touchline was headed in by Ahmedov to give SIPG the advantage going into the second leg in Nanjing next week.
