ACL 2017 Round of 16: Jeju United v Urawa Red Diamonds preview

Published on: 23 May 2017

Jeju: Jeju United will make their first-ever appearance in the AFC Champions League knockout stages when they take on Urawa Red Diamonds in the first leg of the last 16 at Jeju Sports Complex on Wednesday.

After losing their opening game on the continent, Jeju went on to win three from five to advance from Group H as runners-up and ensure they remained the only side from Korea Republic still in the competition.

Urawa were one of the outstanding teams of the group stage, winning four of their first five matches to qualify for the last 16 with a game to spare.

They did, however, suffer a 1-0 defeat to FC Seoul two weeks ago on their last visit to Korea Republic.

Jeju go into the clash on good form after a 2-1 win at Daegu on Saturday saw them move top of the K-League Classic.

Urawa, though, have seen their form dip in recent weeks and dropped to third in the J.League after a 3-3 draw with Shimizu S-Pulse at the weekend.
