Shanghai: Something has to give on Wednesday when Shanghai SIPG host Urawa Red Diamonds at Shanghai Stadium as both teams head into the clash with 100% records in Group F of the 2017 AFC Champions League.
Shanghai boasted five different scorers when they routed Western Sydney Wanderers 5-1 on Matchday Two to claim back-to-to back wins on the continent, and Andre Villas-Boas’s side will welcome back He Guan from suspension ahead of the visit of the Japanese side.
Urawa, meanwhile, sit above their hosts by virtue of goal difference alone after they also posted five different scorers in a resounding 5-2 defeat of FC Seoul to follow up their opening-day 4-0 win at Western Sydney Wanderers.
And the two teams go into Wednesday’s top-of-the-table clash on the back of some fine domestic form with Shanghai defeating Yanbian Funde 2-0 on Friday to move to the top of the Chinese Super League and Urawa’s 4-1 victory over Ventforet Kofu in the J.League making it two wins from two since their victory over FC Seoul.
