Acquah wants to play at 2013 Nations Cup

Ghana's decisive 2013 Nations Cup qualifier hero Afriyie Acquah wants to debut at next January's finals.

Acquah was handed a starting role on his second appearance for the Black Stars and he scored the solitary goal in the 1-0 win over Malawi in Lilongwe on Saturday.

Ghana advanced 3-0 on aggregate and will make a 19th appearance in the history of the competition next year.

Acquah, who has a non-stop engine and speed to survive the physical nature of the African game, wants to help Ghana's cause in South Africa.

"Playing in this qualifier has given me a feel of how the Nations Cup will be like. I know it is very competitive and I can't wait to be in South Africa," Acquah told MTNFootball.com

"But that will be the decision of the coach and I will respect anything he says.

"I'm young but playing with some of the world's best players in the Serie A has helped a lot."

The 20-year-old has been one of Ghana's emerging talents abroad after breaking into the Palermo first team two seasons ago.

The former DC United player made his debut in February this year as a second half substitute against Chile in Philadelphia, USA.
