Ghana goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has confirmed that he has ended his international exile by making himself available for the Black Stars after a 16-month absence.
Ghana's leading football news website www.ghanasoccernet.com exclusively revealed on Sunday that the USA-based glovesman has ended his protest exile by making himself available for next month's friendly against Canada.
This comes after the goalkeeper met with Black Stars coach Avram Grant in April to convince him to return to the fold following his protest after the 2014 World Cup.
The glovesman put himself on an international exile after the tournament in Brazil after publicly hitting out at Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer, Nassam Yakubu and the technical staff over team selection at the World Cup.
Kwarasey took the 16-month break from the national team claiming performance and form does not decide who plays after he was axed following the Black Stars defeat to the USA at the World Cup.
The 28-year-old, who is in top form for his MLS side, said he is returning to the national team for the first time since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“I've received an invite for the international friendly against Canada next month here in the USA,†Kwarasey said.
“Yes I have been contacted and hopefully I will feature in the friendly against Canada.
“We all want the best for the country so let us wait and see.†he added.
The former Stromsgodset goalkeeper will now face competitions from current first choice Razak Brimah of Spanish side Cordoba and Fatau Dauda, who won the 2014 / 2015 Ghana Premier League with Ashantigold.
Kwarasey has played 29 games for Timbers in his maiden campaign in Major League Soccer, keeping 11 clean sheets.
He is a game away from equalling his all-time best season of 30 matches if he features against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday October 4 at the Providence Park.
