Adauna Stars Chief express dissatisfaction over referee Issaka Afful in the G6 final game

Aduana Stars CEO, Albert Commey has expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of referee Issaka Afful in his side’s 0-1 loss to Asante Kotoko in the final of the maiden edition of the FirsTrust G6 Tourney.

The final which was played last Sunday at the Essipong Sports Stadium saw the referee awarding two penalties in the game one for each club.

But late in the game he turned down Aduana Stars’ calls for what appeared a penalty after a foot up challenge by Kotoko defender Ohene Brenya on Yaya Mohammed in the penalty boss.

Questions have been raised about the performance of the referee and the CEO of the Dormaa-based club in expressing his dissatisfaction over the performance of Issaka Afful.

Commey recounted that the same referee officiated their 3-1 loss to the Porcupine Warriors in the semi finals of the FA Cup.

“I’m not complaining about the referee’s performance because we lost the game. He took a doubtful penalty against us. I know that sometimes a referee can’t have everything correct in a game.”

“ … but what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. We also had a penalty in the late minutes of the game. The question now is what was his position, was he standing at the right place? Or was he guessing if he should watch the reply and realized that he did a mistake? What he will be telling Aduana?

“Last year in the semi-final of FA Cup between the same teams, Issaka was bias against Aduana and I want him to look at his own performance because in his previous officiating his decision was very controversial,” Commey told Happy FM
