Adiyiah wins Sports Writers Personality of the year gong

Striker Dominic Adiyiah has been crowned the 2009 Sports Writers Association of Ghana Personality of the Year Award.

Adiyiah beat his internationational team mates John Paintsil and Michael Essien to pick the coveted award.

The 20-year-old also won the best footballer for the year under review.

The on-loan Reggina forward has won the Fifa Under-20 best player and top scorer awards at the last World Youth Championship in Egypt.

Adiyiah is the reigning African Young Best Player.

Hearts of Oak midfielder Obed Ansah was named the Premiership Player  and Kotoko's Alex Asamoah was awarded as Top Scorer of the year.
