Ghanaian League champions Aduana Stars have threatened to withdraw from the top flight if the number of clubs is increased from 16 to 20 for the upcoming season.

The highest decision body of the Ghana Football Association, Congress, is expected to ratify the proposed expansion at its extra-ordinary congress on 18 August.

But Aduana have fired the first salvo insisting that they will pull out of the Premier League is such plans are adopted by congress.

A management member George Jehu told Ghanasoccernet.com:"We have said and would say it again that if they go ahead and increase the number of clubs, we will not play the league again."

"We don't understand where all these things are coming from and instead of concentrating on building and promoting the league properly with the 16 team, they are rather thinking of increasing it when we still have problems with even the 16 clubs participating in the league."
