Aduana Stars captain Emmanuel Akuoko says their involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup has been very helpful to their domestic campaign.
The Ghana Premier League champions dropped the second-tier club championship after failing to overcome Algerian side E.S Setif at the last hurdle of the CAF Champions League qualifying campaign.
The Dorma-based outfit will commence their Confederation Cup campaign with a short trip to Ivory Coast to engage Africa giants ASEC Mimosas on Sunday, May 6.
Coach Yusif Abubakar's side performance in the ongoing Ghana League appears to have suffered a dip in form after collecting six points in eight games, as they occupy 13th on the standings with two games in hand - which has prompt several pundits to question their domestic league title credential.
However, Akuoko insists they have a big squad to handle the two competitions without any problem.
“We take it one match at a time and I personally don't believe our participation in Africa has had any negative effect on our performance. On the contrary, it has rather helped us keep the team in shape and we are looking forward to it,” Akuoko said ahead of their trip to Abidjan.
The two times Ghana Premier League Champions travel to Cote D'Ivoire for the first game of the CAF Confederations Cup group stage.
