Aduana Stars CEO Albert Commey rubbishes claims that he says his side are not title contenders

The Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars FC, Albert Commey, has rubbished claims that he has written off his side from the title race in the upcoming Ghana Premier League insisting he was misinterpreted.

Albert Commey who was quoted by a section of the media for saying that the Dormaa-based side is not in the title race for the 2016 Premier League says he never meant that.

The former Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak in an interview disclosed that regardless of the form of Kotoko and Hearts, they are still title contenders and must not be underrated.

“I never said that Aduana Stars are not favourites for the league title. All I said was that even though Kotoko and Hearts are not in their previous forms, they still pose a threat to the other teams when it comes to the title,” Commey told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I know it is pure mischief but I have my plans so am not bothered. It was ideal for the one who carried the story to have cross-checked with me before filing the report. It is purely false. I never said that we are not favourites.”

The Dormaa-based side has been tipped by the pundits of the game to be in close contention for the league title and the CEO believes saying they are not favourites for the title is an act of cowardice.

Aduana Stars lost in the finals of the recently played G6 Tournament after losing by a lone goal to eventual winners Asante Kotoko.
