Aduana Stars coach Yusif Abubakar is confident of his side making impact in next year's CAF Champions League campaign.

The Fire Boys will be the sole representative for Ghana in the continent's elite club competition after clinching last season's championship title.

Many pundits have cast doubt about the impact the Dormaa-based side will make in the competition due to abysmal record of Ghanaian clubs in recent time.

But according to coach Abubakar, his side are poised to break the jinx that has engulfed Ghanaian clubs in the competition.

"For sometime now, no Ghanaian club has been able to get into the money zone; the last team to go close was Medeama but then they were kicked out," Abubakar told Graphic Sports.

"This will be a very big challenge and if you look at the changed modalities now, you are to play two matches before you get to the group stage unlike the previous years when you play three games before you qualify. But that does not matter because you still have to qualify and that is our target."

"I believe we have the players to make the group stage. Maybe we will lose one or two players but 80 per cent of the players will be retained and we will maintain the same determination we had in last season's league."

Berekum Chelsea are the last Ghanaian club to reach the lucrative stage in 2012.
