Aduana Stars deputy captain Godfred Saka accepts ‘favourites’ tag for next season

Aduana Stars deputy captain Godfred Saka says his side is favourite for the league title insisting the G6 Tournament was just a dress rehearsal for their team building exercise.

The influential defender has played down suggestions that his side lacks quality ahead of the upcoming Ghana Premier League because of their inability to win the G6 Tournament.

The Dormaa-based club did some good business by signing players like Anokye Badu, Richard Mpong, Yaya Mohammed, Joseph Addo and Noah Martey.

But their opening game in the FirsTrust G6 Tournament against Hearts of Oak saw the “Ogya lads” failing to glitter as they had to settle for a goalless draw.

Some local connoisseurs of the game have raised a red flag regarding the quality in Aduana Stars team but Godfred Saka says they have what it takes to win the league.

“I will not say our team is bad. We have new players in the team so it will take some time for them to get themselves into the club’s play pattern. So we are working on our team work ahead of the upcoming premier league,” Saka opined.

“By the time the league starts, we shall be in a good shape to fight for the title,” he added.

The Dormaa-based side has been tipped by many to combat for the title and the veteran defender says they are ready for the fight.
