New Delhi: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s support programme with the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) on Wednesday in the AIFF House in New Delhi. The programme is designed to assist with the staging of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the AIFF requested support from the AFC and UEFA to assist in designing stadium and security development programmes, and supports AIFF in hosting the tournament, which will take place in October 2017.

Under the AFC Competitions Department, the supporting programme helps the AFC Member Associations to successfully deliver an international event, which is in line with the AFC’s mission to maximise the MAs’ potential.

AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das, who gave an opening speech, said: "This is a very important step and we are very grateful to the AFC and UEFA for giving us the opportunity to increase our knowledge in safety and security. We appreciate their openness to engage with different stakeholders.

“We really believe that it can make a difference and the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 gives us the right platform to implement such a programme.”

The tailored-made programme offers a platform for knowledge-exchange on stadium infrastructure and strategic and operational security planning.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 will be hosted in six cities, accommodating a total of 52 matches throughout the tournament period.
