Manila: Global FC moved into pole position in Group F of the 2017 AFC Cup on Wednesday with a surprise 3-2 over former champions Johor Darul Ta’zim that saw Toshiaki Imai’s side overtake the Malaysian club at the summit with just two games remaining.

Three goals in an eight-minute spell in the first-half saw the Philippines club take control of the game as Dennis Villanueva, Shu Sasaki and Amani Aguinaldo all netted to give Global FC an unassailable lead.

Gabriel Guerra pulled one back three minutes into the second-half to give the 2015 champions a glimmer of hope before scoring again seven minutes from time, but Global held on to move on to nine points, two more than JDT.
