AFC Cup 2017 West Asia Zonal Final 2nd leg: Amjed Radhi steers Air Force Club through

Doha: A dramatic added-on time winner from Amjed Radhi saw holders Air Force Club return to the AFC Cup final to defend their title after a 1-0 win in Doha on Tuesday saw the Iraqis past Syria’s Al Wahda on away goals following a 2-2 aggregate score in the West Zonal Final.

Al Wahda could have made things difficult for their hosts in the 10th minute after they were awarded a penalty but Mohammed Al Ghabbash's effort was kept out by Fahad Talib.

The visitors were happy to sit back and absorb the pressure, frustrating Air Force Club, who struggled to break through.

But just when it seemed that Al Wahda would preserve the stalemate and edge through into a first final since the inaugural tournament in 2004, Radhi rose highest to head home a cross from Humam Tareq to give his side the crucial advantage and break Syrian hearts.

Air Force Club can now look ahead to the 2017 showpiece on November 4, where they will face the winners of the Inter-Zone Final between FC Istiklol FC and JSW Bengaluru.
