AFC President condoles passing of Shun-Ichiro Okano

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of former Japan Football Association President Shun-Ichiro Okano who passed away on February 2. 

“The Asian football family shares the grief and loss felt by the Japanese football family during this difficult time, and sends its sincerest condolences", said the AFC President. 

Shun-Ichiro Okano contributed greatly to the beloved sport in Japan and the world. He represented the country as a player, managed the national team, held the position of President of the Japan Football Association and also served as an honorary member and Executive Advisor of the International Olympic Committee.

“Mr Okano will always be remembered for his dedicated services and immense contribution to football in Japan and Asia; both as a player, coach and a capable administrator.”
