New Delhi: At the invitation of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Mr Praful Patel, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John visited the Indian capital New Delhi for discussions on the future road map for Indian football.

Mr  Patel, Dato’ Windsor and Mr Kushal Das, the AIFF General Secretary, had extensive discussions on the future roadmap for Indian football. This was a follow-up to the meeting which took place on the sidelines of the FIFA Congress held in Bahrain in April.

The discussion focused on the growth and expansion of football in India, involving all stakeholders – the players, the infrastructure, the national league and the commercial partners.

Mr  Patel suggested a meeting with all stakeholders to be held under the guidance of the AFC to discuss the roadmap for the growth of Indian football. The AFC General Secretary readily accepted the suggestion and proposed the meeting be organised in Kuala Lumpur on June 7, 2017.

The meeting, which will be chaired by the AFC General Secretary, will be attended by the appropriate AFC Directors. Invitations will also be extended to senior representatives from FIFA, as well as senior representatives from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Commenting on the development Mr Praful Patel said: “I want to thank Dato’ Windsor John for dedicating this time for Indian football and readily accepting our proposal to have an all-stakeholders meeting and confirming a date at such a short notice.”
