New Taipei City: DPR Korea proved they are strong contenders after a 9-0 win over Brunei Darussalam to continue their undefeated AFC U-16 Championship Malaysia 2018 Qualifiers campaign on Wednesday.

On the back of a 10-0 win in their opening match against Macau, DPR Korea were more than confident going into the match-up with Brunei.

DPR Korea looked to score right at the beginning and Ri Hun opened the scoring just six minutes into the game, and Kim Kang-song doubled their lead in the 12th minute.

Riding on their wave of dominance, Kim Won-il furthered their advantage a minute later.

Ra Nam-hyon then scored in the 22nd minute, before Won-il scored his second shortly after.

Pak Jong-chol's side showed no leniency and continued their string of goals from Kim Jun-hyok and Kang-song to make it 7-0 at half-time.

Ko Chang-ung scored four minutes into the restart, but Brunei had to endure one more goal from Won-il to complete his hat-trick in the 60th minute.

DPR Korea sit comfortably on top of Group F with six points.

Hong Kong will play Macau later on Wednesday.
