Rwanda’s preparations for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana next month in Kigali have suffered a setback after a training tour of Scotland was postponed indefinitely.

The Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) in a statement said that reason to reschedule the training camp is due to the delayed visa acquisition process which has affected the general planning of “this valuable training camp.”

“All parties involved in the preparation of this training camp have reached an agreement to find another suitable date before the end of this year,” reads the statement in part.

“The process and procedures were not easy and we want to prepare the team so we have decided to maintain our preparations because we need to be ready for the Ghana’s game, we have also decided to play warm-up games so that our players are well prepared for the competition.”

“Visas were not coming on time and we were not sure if by Monday the team would travel so we have decided to cancel the trip until further notice.”

Amavubi were initially scheduled to head to Scotland on August 2, 2015 but the departure date will now be determined after securing Visas from the UK Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.

Head coach John McKinstry had planned to stay in the European country for two weeks and lined up several friendly games including against Edinburg University Select XI and Patrick Thistle Select XI among others.

Rwanda are scheduled to host Ghana in Kigali on 05 September.
