Las Palmas new signing Wakaso Mubarak scored from an incredible free-kick to lift the Black Stars to a crucial 1-0 victory over Rwanda's Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Saturday afternoon.

The former Rubin Kazan' man took matters into his own when he elected himself to brilliantly convert an 86th minute free-kick to claim all three points for Ghana.

GHANAsoccernet.com's El Akyereko Frimpong rates the performance of the Black Stars in Kigali.

  • (6/10) Razak Braimah - The Cordoba glovesman made two crucial saves to deny the Amavubis and properly organised the backline to contain any possible treats.
  • (6/10) Harrison Afful - The Columbus Crew man got forward to provide extra width in attack though he was somehow eclipsed by the host wing-halve.
  • (5.5/10) Baba Rahman - Wasn't one of the Chelsea man's best games for Ghana. The Rwandan wing-men targeted his side of defensive to lodge attack and he could not stop them.
  • (6/10) Daniel Amartey - Central defender barely had time to sweat as he returned to a defensive duties. Grant had used him at the role during the 2015 AFCON but had to adapt after playing in a central midfield role at FC Copenhagen.
  • (6/10) John Boye - Managed to keep the Rwandans at bay as they had only two shots at goal. The Sivasspor man played organizationally well and commanded the backline with Amartey.
  • (6.5/10) Afriyie Acquah - Avram Grant felt comfortable with the Torino's presence in central midfield. After settling after an unconvincing start due to the nature of the pitch, he returned from the break to command the midfield and marshaled victory for Ghana.
  • (7.5/10) Wakaso Mubarak - Won the game for the Black Stars with a superb 86th minute free-kick. The Las Palmas new signing worked tireless in midfield as he overshadowed Harouna Niyonzima and Jean-Claude Iranzi.
  • (6.5/10) Christian Atsu - The potato farm-like pitch at the Amahoro Stadium did enough to steal the artful and deft abilities of the Bournemouth man but he tested Jean-Claude Ndoli with a pair of great strikes. His lack of club activity did not show on his game.
  • (7/10) Andre Ayew - Translated his impressive performance in the English Premier League to Kigali and showed great leadership qualities in the absence of Asamoah Gyan who missed the game with a knee problem.
  • (6/10) Jordan Ayew - Had a tough time battling it out with Sint-Truiden defender Salomon Nirisarike whose imposing physical presence appeared to have harassed the Ghanaian. Great a couple of clear cut chances. Worth mentioning he did not a great partnership with Boakye-Yiadom.
  • (5.5/10) Richmond Boakye-Yiadom - This looked like a perfect opportunity for the Roda FC Kerkrade new signing to seal a regular place in Avram Grant's squad but he was silent for the 61 minutes he lasted. Replaced by TP Mazembe wing-wizard Solomon Asante who missed the best chance of the game from 12 yards.
