Uganda coach Milutin Sredojevic has explained his decision to play a European side Slovakia in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations next month.

The exhibition match will be played in Abu Dhabi on 08 January three days before facing Ivory Coast.

Slovakia are expected to field a strong squad including Martin Skrtel,Marek Hamsik of Napoli and Al Gharafa winger Vladimir Weiss.

Sredojevic believes the Slovenski sokoli (Falcons) build the technical awareness of his team, and give them a feel of playing at the highest level.

''Because of the absolute high grade technical awareness such a match can provide, and the individual and team growth in terms of how to behave and play at the highest international level,'' he explained.

Uganda open their Group D campaign against Ghana on 17 January in Port Gentil.
