6 – The number of former champions to have progressed into the quarterfinals (Congo, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Ghana and Tunisia). Six is also the number of goals conceded by South Africa, who exited the group stage with the worst defensive record of any team.

13 – The number of draws recorded in the group stage of the tournament.
41 – The number of different goal scorers at the tournament, including the one own goal (scored by South Africa’s Thulani Hlatshwayo).
45 – The number of goals scored in the 24 group stage matches, at an average of 1.88 per match.
50-50 – The chances of progression for Mali and Guinea, who will draw lots on 29 January to determine which of the two progresses into the quarterfinals after finishing with identical records in Group D.
