Afriyie Acquah accepts Africa Cup of Nations snub in good faith

Afriyie Acquah has described his exclusion from Ghana's Africa Cup of Nations squad as "right and acceptable."

The Parma midfielder was not named in head coach Kwesi Appiah's provisional 26-man squad last Thursday.

The hard-tackling player was expected to make the cut after an impressive display in the second leg final round qualifier against Malawi away.

The 20-year-old scored Ghana's only goal in the 1-0 win which wrapped up a 3-0 aggregate scoreline.

Acquah, owned by Palermo, says he respects the decision of the coach.

"The competition for places in the Black Stares is very competitive and I always understood that so I feel normal now," Acquah said in an interview.

"I wish I had the opportunity to play for my country but that has been postponed, deservedly so I believe. I can only accept and respect the decision of Coach Appiah.

"I believe he will call me at the appropriate time when he believes I deserve a place."
