Dutch giants Ajax sent scouts to monitor Abdul Majeed Waris during their 3-2 defeat at AC Ajaccio as they intensify their pursuit of the Ghanaian international.

According to French 365 Foot Mercato, scouts of the Amsterdam side were impressed with the youngster who rattled in a double at the Stade du Hainaut.

Waris is being considered as a replacement for either Siem de Jong or Kolbeinn Sigthórsson who are preparing to leave the side this summer.

The 21-year-old has been in scintillating form since joining Valenciennes from Spartak Moscow in January – netting eight goals in eleven games.

Waris is keen to extend his loan period with French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes beyond the current six-month agreement, but reports suggest that Black Stars attacker will consider his options if Les Athéniens fail to escape relegation.

It is in this context that Ajax is already set to enroll Waris – the former top scorer in Sweden – next summer.

The former BK Häcken man should be part of the staff of Ghana for the next World Cup in Brazil.

He has 3 international goals to his name.
