C.K Akunnor is full of expectations ahead of Sunday’s meeting with his ex national teammate Maxwell Konadu in the big Ghanaian derby.

Akunnor who has managed back-to-back Premier League wins since his debut loss at Hearts of Oak takes his team to Kumasi to face leaders Asante Kotoko.

The former Black Stars captain however paid a glowing tribute to Konadu who according to him blazed the trail which made his move to the Phobians possible.

“It's such a good feeling, I am happy the way he has worked hard,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“When I was with Right to Dream Academy I saw some of the games and I think he has done so well.

“That is why I am even here today. If it hadn’t been him because Kotoko gave him the chance and supported him and he did it.

“And so it gave Hearts of Oak also the edge and confidence to come in for me so I mean my presence here is made possible because of what Konadu has done with Kotoko.”

Akunnor adds the banter of bragging rights between the two remains exclusively concealed before, during and after the game on Sunday.

“If I win he knows the game and I am sure he will understand just like I will.”
