Ghana assistant coach Akwesi Appiah is in line to be named as the substantive coach of the home-based national team, GHANAsoccernet understands.

The Ghana FA will confirm his appointment after Tuesday evening's management committee meeting.

The ex-defender will be in charge of the team when they play Sierra Leone in an international friendly in Freetown on 30 April.

Appiah will take over from Aduana Stars boss Herbert Addo who guided the team to an abysmal performance at this year's African Nations Championship in Sudan.

He will remain the number two-man for Serbian Goran Stevanovic for the senior national team.
